La Duena Cigar

Janny Garcia has been constructing the family business for many years alongside her father, Don Pepin Garcia, and brother Jaime Garcia. La Duena’s earthy, leathery, and peppery flavors are a gentle reminder that a great mix of cigars is worthless without a superb team behind it. The owner is referred to as “La Duena” in Spanish.

The wrapper’s dark brown color and apparent veins give it a rustic, less-than-smooth feel. Strong notes of raisins, barnyards, and soil can be detected from the foot, while notes of cocoa and coffee can be detected in the cold draw.

The predominant elements are a bar of delightful chocolate and mint flavor with a hint of graham cracker. Without being as sugary, it reminds me of those thin mint Girl Scout cookies. Cedar and a light spice flavor to the flavor profile to a close.

The Burn and Draw Experience

As the cigar burns down in the final section, the sweetness becomes less apparent from both a burn and draw perspective, much like the beginning of the smoke, and the overall profile subtleties deepen. La Duena’s flavor profile is darker, yet it still has a medium intensity and is excellent.
